Home, Sweet Home
Monday, November 2, 2009 at 5:24AM After three wonderful, tearful, exciting, change-ridden years in California, I am so happy to say that I'll be moving back to Maryland this week!

Posting has been light because I have been flying cross-country for job interviews and appointments, and I finally have my little ducks in a row. I'll begin work immediately and live with family in Baltimore until February. Then, my husband comes home and we will move to Annapolis!
It will be interesting to see how my taste and style changes upon returning to the East Coast, especially Annapolis. If you're not familiar with Annapolis, it is the most perfect little city imaginable, sort of like Virginia's Colonial Williamsburg but much more vibrant and...real.
It's the state capital, so it is bustling with political activity. It is home to the U.S. Naval Academy, so handsome midshipman with their pretty peacoated girlfriends and blushing dates are around every corner. And the narrow little homes each look like something out of a Charles Dickens novel.
I moved to Annapolis after college with a friend because I wanted to stay in-state but not necessarily in Baltimore (although I do love Charm City as well!). Annapolis is where I fell in love, was married, and had a wonderful job. I know it will be different this time, both for the better and for the bittersweet, and I can't wait. I'll be taking a little bit of time (another week or so) to settle back in with my family and hit the ground running with my work, and hope to see you back here shortly!

I'll second the welcome back but from me it's welcome back to Maryland! I'm from Bel Air and we love to visit Annapolis! It's so pretty there...I like how you described it as "real"...so tru!

Hi Nicole! Just found your blog through GreyLikes Weddings... I am one of those "pretty peacoated girlfriends" you described above... I moved to Annapolis after graduating this past May from the University of Texas to be closer to my fiance, who is a firstie at the Academy right now. We're getting married in June at the Chapel and having our reception at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation!
LOVE annapolis! I think I'll email/tweet you for a chat! :)
